What in the heck does having Eight strings have ANYthing to do with RIC-O-SOUND. Some people just amaze me with their stupidity.
Oh yea....Merry Christmas!

Doesn't that mean 4 strings go to the left speaker and 4 strings to the right?......

That would be slick if it is so.

I thought it split the pick ups.
I'm just happy to be here.

Yeah, Willie's is usually a bit on the pricey side for vintage stuff. Still cool though. You don't see these all that often.

From the 8 strings and 12 string guitars I've played, I'd much prefer the octave string to be on top, as in Jared's photo of the white one.

By the way, I'm sure they know there is no correlation between Rick-O-Sound and having 8 strings. I'm pretty sure they're just trying to be funny.

The RIC-O-SOUND jack only splits the pickups...Neck pickup is one channel and the bridge pickup the other.

Ric-O-Sound could be even more useful in an 8-string Rick 'cause 8 and 12-string basses sound great if the signal is splitted, i.e distorted/clean. Just referring to the adverts "who needs Ric-O-Sound when you got 8-strings". I've always wondered why the Ric-O-Sound wasn't a standard feature on the 8-string models.

A cool feature would be a custom Ric-o-sound setup that incorporated an on-board crossover. The crossover would send the highs to one output and the lows to another for use in a dual amp setup.

I saw this instrument at Willie's a couple of weeks ago. It is a consignment deal, so it is probably the seller setting the price too high.

Maybe I should have added, \remove tongue from cheek after that... I was playing off Ben's post and the wording in the ad.

Another positive vote for Willie's here. They know their stuff and it is the preeminent place to go in Minneapolis for a great instrument, repair or advice.

I'm just down the road from Willie's and in there all the time. They are a typical vintage dealer, one of two in town, that focuses on Fender and Gibson. They have started getting into old Ricks lately and are one of the only places in town with new ricks on the wall. Very straight and dependable guys, it's just the collector market prices of late that I can't keep up with!
No matter where you go - there you are.
