Here's a chart to show the difference between the tension of the D'Addario XL nickel roundwounds and Chrome flatwound of the same gauge (.045 - .100).
The .050 - to .105 set is fairly high tension. I would only use that gauged set for dropped tunings. The Super Soft Chromes set seems to be fine on my 4001FL.

3 different basses... all Chromes. To all of you who convinced me to try them, I owe a massive debt of gratitude!!!!

In order of age... Rogue VB (40-95)-14 months, 4001 (45-100)- 13 months, and the Jazz (45-100)- 11 months. Still awesome on all of them.

I love the Love CD. That must be a fun show to see in Vegas. I had never heard of it before the CD came out.
