I record mostly with the doubleneck bass since it has the best sustain (that huge maple body).
I play out with the 4003's though because they look COOL.

3x 4003: Fireglo, Blue Boy and Midnight Blue.
All from last few years.

Despite protestations that the colour will degrade and it will go green, my Blue Boy remains the same colour it was the day I got it - but then I don't use it much. The Fireglo is just lovely. The Midnight Blue may get refinished when I can afford it as it has 'cosmetic issues' (that I really don't want to go into anymore!!). I am trying to think of a really radical finish for it. Perhaps chrome would be nice.
The 'rogue intruder' in the pic is a greenburst John Birch (custom made in 1976).

'99 4003 "v68" - My first good instrument, it has been there every step of the way on my "musical path". Dale's work on it only made it that much more sentimental - and cool looking!. Great neck, great sound.
'74 4005WB - An excellent alternative to my 4003, this is Rickenbacker's version of a Hofner IMO. That neck pickup really thumps! It's also my first hollowbody bass, a concept I have come to really love. Looks awesome, too.

I only have one Rickenbacker a Fireglow 4003 from 2003. I love it all what this bass offers on playability and tone.... what can I say more?
