And this bass would look good at in a forum members home bar:

Image

It's a Sei Flamboyant 5 string with: Thya Full Facing with pickup covers
-Flamed Maple Wing -Wenge / Maple 7 piece neck
-Ebony Fingerboard with custom inlays
-Bartolini MMET triple coil pickups
-Coil Taps
-Schack 3 band 18V circuit with semi parametric EQ
-ABM 3D Headless Bridge unit
-15.5mm string spacing

Sorry Bob.
I thought it was interesting due to the obvious luthiers acknowledgement that triangular inlays belonged to our beloved Rickenbackers and crafted a graceful "swoosh" tribute to the long gone full inlays.
Post and learn. (o:}

Sorry Steve, I didn´t even notice the inlays, you´re right, I´ll have to investigate a little more before I open my big mouth.

Owen-- My sentiments exactly. You really should lurk quietly over at "the dudepit" and get an eye-opening education as to what those tadpoles think about these newfangled modern basses. Some of 'em go on about those monstrosities like they're better than manna from heaven. It'll make you barf.

you ever notice how "futuristic" items tend to look dated fast? Like those pointy heavy metal guitars of the '80's

Hey, we do have Rickenbacker, Gibson and Fender sections at the Dudepit. Not everybody there loves Spalt or other hideous mutants. You may even see a familiar bass photo heading the Rickenbacker section.

Dave-- What you say is true. But it seems that the pre-pubescent spalt-lover mentality dominates over there. I choose not to put up with it.

Jerry Juden-- Absolutely! Those who tend to gravitate towards that sort of thing reflect a rather shallow approach to their playing (and I use the term loosely in this instance.)

Pre-pubescent spalt lovers...that has a nice ring to it. I can sense a teenage love song in the works. Image

The truth is, all the bass-only forums are dominated by multi-string/active/ultramodern style guys. I ignore it. To each his own. You don't ever see those basses anywhere I set foot in, so it doesn't affect me.

Whatziz "Dudepit" thing? And if I look at it, am I automatically a Dude? Somebody clue me in, please.

Those are some truly strange-looking basses.... When I saw the pictures of the Spalts I laughed so hard I cried, and my six-year-old son came in to see what was so funny and saw the screen and said "Splat basses?", which made it even funnier. Their resemblance to internal organs is kind of disturbing. My question is, what do they sound like? Or is sound even an issue when you play something that weird-looking? I can definitely picture a teenager with multiple body piercings getting into something like that....
