4004Cii Jetglo - November 2004 - unfinished fingerboard, walnut ears and pickups away from the neck.
4004Cii/5 Mapleglo - March 2004 - finished fingerboard, walnut ears and pickups away from the neck.
4004Cii/5 Trans Red - June 2004 - unfinished fingerboard, walnut ears and pickups towards the neck.

At the recent NAMM show, the 2 Laredos had finished fingerboards, the 3 Cheyennes had unfinished fingerboards.

Jaymi, since the 4004Cii/5 is still on the RIC website, I'm just assuming that they plan on bringing it back when it's ready.

Love the green and gold Ron! Anyone know if the 4004cii is still being produced with the unfinished fingerboard?

Jaymi ... every once in a while a 4 string Ric get's converted into a 5 string Ric in my basement ...

The stock 4004 makes a damn fine 5 string bass with a few minimal modifications ... I keep a stock of the 2 3/8" bridges in gold, chrome, and black for future conversions ...

Ric could do a 4004 5 string bass like the ones that I do right in their factory ... except they could drill the tuner holes in the headstock in a nicer spacing ... If Ric did this it would be the best 5 string bass they ever produced hands down ... perhaps they could do the 4004cii5 with the wider spacing and do a 4004L5 with the slimmer neck and spacing ... it would work with the exist pickups and the existing wood shape of the 4004 basses being made now ...

Interesting Ron....what month was your Cii made (1st two numbers of "lower" serial number is the week of production)? Both of my '05's had the p/u's closer to the neck.

Mark, I sure wish you were coming up to MARF - a shot of our "twin" 4004's would be great! Image

Oops, my bad. My 4004cii was born in March 2004 not 2005 (week 11). I guess that explains the older pickup config. Thanks for the compliments, guys.

Joey, what week was your 4004cii5 Trans Red made? My 4004cii5 was made in week 23, which puts it at the 1st week in June. Mine must have been one of the last ones with the pickups closer to the bridge and your's one of the first with the pickups closer to the neck.

Erik, doesn't your May 1995 Fireglo 4004L also have the arm contour?

Yes it does. Very different from either of my cii's.
