Rickenbacker Bass - No return policy question

My 330 has probably gone around three times or more. It was well played (read: fairly abused) when I got it. And although I've taken much better care of it, I've played at least a million miles on it.
I don't understand how someone could take such shabby care of a Rick. Especially since it had the original hardshell case. The finish on the highest frets was all chipped up and out and the body looked like somebody had thrown it down once or twice. It almost made me puke until I saw how freakin' cheap it was.
