what all the old 4003/5 parts have been discontinued?
The email address shown is down, you can email me at [email protected]
Most of the 4003/5 parts were regular issue 4003 parts and are still available. The bridge and bridge position high gain pick up were special for that instrument and are discontinued. I talked to my luthier/machinist today about making 5-string bridges and he said the price would definitely come down if he were making more than one. He told me it could cost as much as $150.00 for such a specific one-off piece if it were just one. I've got a new style 4003 bridge on it's way to me to be used as a pattern. I didn't want to use one of my '70's pieces because I know they are slightly different and the new one needs to fit the currently available string saddles. Anyone interested in getting in on the production of these should let me know and I'll get a price from him. While I'm not interested in making any money on this deal, I am interested in getting the price down for mine! While I'm there this weekend(he's turning one of my 3000 necks into a lined fretless with a urethane clearcoat) I'll also ask him about the posibility of doing a 4003/8 bridge with eight separate saddles! This guy does custom quality work like you wont believe and he even said he could fix the AzureGlo 4001 with the broken off headstock on e-Bay with no problem!
