Just to let every Jon Camp fan know, his Great White 4001 still resides in New Jersey. I have left it as it appeared 1n the early 80's, did not convert her back to the 1970's look. She is in wonderful condition considering her age and mileage.

the double album "live at carnegie hall" actually supasses (sic) the studio versions-a great place to start as it covers several of their better albums, live with an orchestra backing
Agree 100%. Get the live album.

So Charly, how goes the Renaissance feeding frenzy?
I was listening to some today and thought of you.

Great! A nice new addition to the library! It's hard to believe I missed 'em. Of course, later I missed the Smithereens too, so.............

I love that version of Black Flame. Camp's bass sound is fantastic. I've asked this before but does anyone know what amps he was using back then? Marshall perhaps?

I think he was using a sytem with some sort of preamp and hifi power amp into custom speakers.

Sounds wonderful whatever he was using. Nothing like Squire though!

As far as overall playing and style I think Camp wins for me. He is more melodic and I like how he integtrates his bass lines into the songs better.

Hmm, not sure I could say anyone (even Camp) is more melodic than Squire, and Jon openly states that he was completely influenced by Squire. But he is fantastic though, although I have to say I like his tone on this clip more than on the albums; I find his album tone a little nasal.
