Hey Chris is that a Vintage StroboConn I see there? I have not seen one of those since 1972 or so. Wanna sell it? Or, I will send you a new rack-mount Korg LED Bar tuner, brand new in the box.....

I just love rickety old stuff Image Image I used to use one of those about every day from 1968 to 1972. OK, I know I am geezing about my age, but still. In its day, it RULED Image
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and sit in with the band whenever you can, to keep your chops up!

Elys...Yes it is a StroboConn....
It is mint condition...I had a second one but i sold that... I take them apart and rebuild sections of it for better stability and tighter acuracy of drift....
I use it to set intonation mostly.... I keep it on with a mic plugged into it and just use it to tune up while I play between songs... You can find them on Ebay....
I take it your the SVT man....
Here is something interesting for ya....
The top section of my SVT is a blue-line made in Linden, NJ... The lower section (power-amp) is made in Indiana... I assume it is an early transitional head...I assume left over parts from Linden, NJ must have been shipped out to Indiana when they started production there...not sure...But the plate voltage is like 695V DC and the screens are 375V ...... This thing punches VERY HARD and blows out all the lightbulb filaments wherever I play... I change out the light bulbs in my apartment like every 2 weeks...

Jaclyn is not leaving the house, and that's final haha!
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

I've got a old flat back and a slant back with a handle. Does anybody know how to date these?

Must have shiny new car and loads of money!

Oh wait, you meant.........

never mind

seriously , if you have a serial number, you can usually find someone, or a website, who can date it.

Rikk, you can't date Ampegs by serial number, you need to start taking things apart to read EIA codes off of pots, speakers, caps, etc...

Blown lightbulbs? I had to switch to those flourescent ones cuz I got tired of changing them every other practice... You guys wanna talk about some real damage - you should see all the cracked drywall joints in my basement!

I hate to keep saying this but I also have three heads and cabs and when it gets warmer I will take a photo of all my stuff (been saying that for two years now) I did once have a photo of two heads and cabs and about 5 or 6 basses on my father's back porch and someone said something to the effect of there mustn't be many mosquitos around the area, haha!
The problem is my cabs are over at my father's house and my heads are here at my apartment.
Incidentally I just did a demo bass track for a keyboard player from a pretty well known Southern rock and country band with my 79 4001, SVT head and B-15 cab mic'ed and the guy loved it.

Chaps, size is not everything, or am I just shy about my smaller equipment..?

I used to have all this big valvey stuff but now use an Ashdown ABM 500 head and one or two ABM 2x10 cabs. I do miss my Hiwatt 2x15 and two 4x12 cabs with Hiwatt heads, but that was 1975 and I was young, playing rock, and we had a couple of roadies...
