Judging by the one I played, no. It was a nice, interesting bass, but not worth anything like that much to me, although there may be much better ones out there. They do look as cool as, but I'd sooner have an old 4001 for that money.

Not into 4005 s at all. The body is too bulbous for me. That's why I got a 4003. The ultimate bass. 4 grand could be better spent!

I'd buy one or two. I one thing I like about them is the low weight. It's nice to play a Ric for 4 hours and not have a back ache.

Dave, 4003s and 4004s don't weigh that much. It's the 4080's that'll kill ya Image

If they went for 4 grand, I'd get two! (hopefully they be earlier spec, toasters and CB).

If it came down to it, I'd have to get one. This is THE bass I have been looking for. Every review I've read points me to it. Second mortgage for sure though.

For 4 large I'd buy most of the Ricks I already want, so count me out!

If it would be a limited run, Ed Roman would buy at least two, I bet!

My 4003 is as light as a feather. No problems with my back and I'm 42! Getting a good wide leather strap is the key!

I would probably be able to pass on a 4005 reissue. I have never played one so I don't really know what the attraction is. I imagine I would have a different opinion if I had played one.

4003s, like 4001s, vary in weight a great deal. Trust me, the variations becomes far more evident when you have disc problems!

The Lemmy basses sold for more, and they didn't have any problem selling those! But granted the Lemmy bass was a highly adapted version of an existing model - the 4005 would need to be re-created from scratch, which might not be worth the expense to RIC. $4k is a LOT of money to me, but I would like a 4005. I'd have to significantly rearrange some priorities, and I'd probably have to count on the wait time to save. Mapleglo, please.

(As if it'll happen...)

Didn't the Lemmy basses list for around $2700?

I thought the Lemmy listed for even less.

I'd buy a 4005 if they were the same price as a 4004. At $4k, I'm not interested.

How was this 4K price point arrived at? I think RIC could produce a CB 4005 with all the goodies you would want on it for well under 3K and still make good money on every one of them. My .02. YMMMV.
