sensitivity pot and lightshows go hand in hand. the more you use the pot, the less sensitive you become to it, so you gotta start turning it up.


Ok... bad joke about a bad substance, is that so wrong?

If anyone decides to build a modern LightShow, it would be cool to add a small input jack so you could play music through it. Sorta like a player piano kinda concept.

Yeah I have a 330/12 I only use on occasion. So I am having opaque plexiglass cut to fit the top. I got an led array like Ive seen in pics and an going to use a tiny mic to modulate the lights. I will post pics as soon as the plexi gets here.

Sounds cool, Eric, but I think that you meant translucent, not opaque, plexi. Something opaque would not let any light through. (I worked in a plastics warehouse a long time ago ... and I'm a scientist ... )

Since the correct material is available through Paul W., why not just do it right?

The material has come in, BTW. It is virtually identical to the old stuff, made by the same company with the same dies and from the same material.

I'll get some pictures up of an LS with original panels and with the new stuff. And then, if anybody is still interested, they can contact me via my e-mail address.

I think I may order some of this stuff myself just to have it in case it becomes unavailable again.

Next, the 35+-year-old material:



And you can see why I said "virtually the same" in my post above...the new material is exactly as thick as the old (.020"). It is made of polycarbonate and can be cut with sharp scissors very easily, or you can use my Exacto knife technique.

As is obvious, the new material is much livelier-looking, and of course it's new-looking, whereas the older is a bit dingier, not to mention it having some bulb burns.

Nope, Richard...the LS in question is having its circuits rebuilt and is non-functional. But the new material has the same light transmission, refraction, and beam-scattering qualities as the original.

Cool, that is what I was wondering about.

Any chance of a pic with the LS plates off?
