My son bought me the Sgt. Pepper drumhead from Russ. He has some pretty cool stuff. I'm looking forward to putting it out with my MMT bass.

Speaking of drum heads, if you want to make an attachable and foldable one, I was successful in making one from one of those bendable metal rim car sunscreens. By cutting and reattaching the metal into the appropriate circle size, a round piece printed material can be sewed (to itself)around the metal rim. (I traced a circle onto plywood and made a circular wall of nails to aid in this process. Getting the rim to the exact size you need may take a bit of trial and error.)
The result is a very nice looking drumhead than can be folded into less size than a piece of notebook paper. Plus it's very cool when you take it out and it automatically flips out into its full round drumhead shape.
It all takes a bit of doing, but the results are nice. The reattachment of the metal tim to itself to form a circle might be the hardest part and you'll want to investigate various little pieces of hardware than can do the job. Overlapping the metal rim by a few inches and using duct tape is one way to go.
Attachment of the drumhead to the bass drum can be done in lots of ways. I found that sewing some of those cloth rubber bands (used for ponytails) to the perimeter allowed the drumhead to easily attach to the drums metal tuning keys.
-------------
As for Ringo and his drumhead, after joining in August he played for duration of '62 with his crudely lettered 'Ringo Starr' drumhead
and it wasn't until Feb of '63 that the they finally get the band name onto the drums.
Does THAT drumhead (or more likely the piece of paper stuck onto the drum) still exist?

If you look at the CBS Morning Show clip that featured Russ Lease, you will see a copy that he has from Drum City. They were the ones that had the heads painted for the group. The one that I saw other than the Sullivan head is one from Madam Toussaud's museum or one just like it.

There was a place I saw once in Nashville that made Beatles drum heads several years ago. I thing he was charging fifty bucks a piece for them. They were real good reproductions too. I should have bought one and hung it in my room.

Brian, did you get your MMT bass back yet?

Bob, I don't have the bass yet. I'm not sure when it comes up in Paul's schedule, but the Sgt. Pepper drumhead arrived today and it is awesome. I now have the first piece for the decor of my guitar room. We are building a guest house so the guest room will be converted to a music room. I think I'll have to find George's "Rocky" and have a Gibson acoustic painted like Lennon's. Not that I'm getting carried away or anything. I'll post a picture of the drumhead when I get home.

C&C Drum out of Kansas City made some custom drums for Ringo (As you can see in the photo.) I believe it was the first they ever made without the C&C badge on them. The drumhead was new. I actually saw them before they shipped out to him, it was terribly exciting.

What a beauty! I was considering making one for myself, either as a wallhanging or to actually put on my kit. I'm not sure I have the talent that it requires now.

I think it's great! I've got a pretty damn good kid. He is generous with his old man and the rest of his family.
