Howard

Easybeats did have one more hit in UK Hello How Are You made number 20 in 68, they only made US top 40 once though, with Friday On My Mind Made 16 in 66.

I actually think the former qualifies as a clough's classic, so here it is.

The Fortunes started this thread off and Mike made some valid points, their initial hit records were to some degree overproduced perhaps, here is their biggest hit "unorchestrated"

See it Here

What some may not know is that there is a link between The Ventures and The Fortunes anyone care to have a stab at what it is.

I like this very much and the vocals are just great here. Thanks for the link, Roy.

"Here It Comes Again" and "Freedom Come Freedom Go" were also respectable numbers in my view.

I nominate the Zombies, She's Not There, Tell Her No, & Time of the Season are all fantastic songs. A selection of theremsongs is available here.

A modern version with original members Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent reformed a few years ago and are playing at Leeds City Varieties in a couple of weeks!!! I will be there.

Roy: ok..this is a real stab...Caroline Radio used a Fortunes song as the stations theme song and the Caroline DJ Peter Bowman used The Ventures song Bird Rocker as the theme song for his show...

Roy: would it have anything to do with Les Fradkin the Rick 12stringer?

doh! I may be trying to look too deep so far..ok...The Ventures have and do record EVERYONE'S material so I would guess they must have recorded at least one, maybe more of The Fortunes songs during their peak period...I believe I saw/heard The Ventures do "When You Walk In The Room"...maybe as a weird vocal?!..maybe just instrumental..

While a tenuous connection at best, both The Ventures and The Fortunes recorded songs written by Roger Cook.
