"A urethane" gives me pause. They are probably going to use an air-dry urethane varnish, judging from their choice of lacquer on the neck proper.
The use of nitro in RIC refinishes is common with luthiers and repair shops, who abhor the preparations and process necessary to use a proper catalyzing conversion varnish in a touch-up or refinish.
There are all sorts of urethane varnishes that air-dry, but only the catalyzing (two part) type will give the proper Rickenbacker-type finish to a fretboard.

Great News!!!!! I got my rick back yesterday and my breath was taken away. The guys at third coast did such an awsome job on my bass you cant even tell that the neck even broke. They touched up the neck soo soo well and the coat on the fret board looks and feels like glass! The tone is insane all of my stress about my baby just melted away when I played a few quick YES tunes and it sounded dead on. Thanks again for all your guys' support.

I just want to second the praise for Third Coast in Chicago (I'm assuming there's not another Third Coast Guitar Repair out there in IL!). I've never had anything quite this involved done there, but they have always come across as knowledgeable good guys to me, and I like to pass along positive recommendations when possible.
