Tonight was Alisha's first night in Australia. Aitch and Alisha drove to my house, where Alisha met my family and dropped off my '63 Gretsch Country Gent
From there Aitch, Alisha, Robyn and I shared dinner in Elwood, a bayside suburb of Melbourne.
Dinner finished just in time for us to walk down to the venue where my favourite Melbourne band, Airway Lanes, were performing a rare unplugged acoustic set. We were joined there by fellow Very Almost's guitarist, Greg Rahilly.
It was a small, intimate venue and it was simply astonishing to think we could see and hear such a great band for free. The beer was cold, the music was superb and the company was first class.
Aitch, I never realised how long your right arm is 'till I saw the last photo! It is your arm around Alisha, isn't it?
Be gentle with her you guys as she will need all her strength for the Liverpool mini confluence where (all being well, or not - as the case may be) she will have to put up with not only Graham, but me too!
Great pictures! I've never met any of you, but somehow feel connected--the Ric thing obviously, plus my bud Johneek has give me some additinal gouge all of ya, and for those down under, Australia is the place my wife and I miss the most from our travels...
It was a great night and I still can't get over Airway Lanes! What a fantastic band and a lovely bunch of guys to boot.... very welcoming to Alisha and the rest of us.
Peter: I've never seen Saganaki covered with vodka and set on fire before - hence the expression. And no..... I am not Inspector Gadget!!
It's just as awesome as Monty, Melibee! The neck is superb - that's why I like 350v63s..... no 'clubby' necks. It needs a workout with Scratch-X and Zymol but it might be a few days before that happens.
I'll chime in and add that everyone out here is amazing. Airway Lanes was incredible and I told Darren that he needs to grab a box of their CD's when it comes out in time for August's SoCal Confluence because it is absolutely fantastic.
As you can see from the pictures, my goofy grins continue. My face is starting to hurt from smiling so much
I'm just on cloud nine and a thousand thank-you's go out to Aitch & Darren.
