Congrats Bryce! That looks remarkably like my old '72. What city did it come from?

Beautiful bass. One question, the clear finger rest thingie. Is that something all Ric basses had back in the day?

Almost all of them had the tug-bar, Alan. Sometime in late 1972 it was discontinued.

Great looker Bryce, glad to hear she finally arrived.
I guess I'll pull back the troops massing along the boarder of San Fran. We were going in if the bass did not come out!

Cool! And sure enough, my Dec 72 BG has no tug bar. I never knew that was the very month they were discontinued. Fine with me, I prefer to pick.
Great bass, Brycycle! Those of us who have these 72's...well, maybe we can sort of forgive people for turning weird when the time comes to sell. Know what I mean?
I'm just sayin'...

That's what it was, the guy was having a hard time letting go.
"The tugs are gone by Dec 72..."
That's one of the reasons I like the early 73's, no goofy tugbar

and some still have the sparkle inlays, at least the first two months of 73.
Of course some of the early 72's had walnut headwings so that's pretty cool.

Tug bar? Those are for dragging boats out of the water aren't they? Try thumb rest.

When it's below the strings it's a tugbar/handrest, when it's above the strings it's a thumbrest. It seems around the pre 73/74 time frame both F*nder and RIC reviewed the use of said items, RIC went for extinction of said item, F#nder moved it to where everybody thought it should go(at the time).
