The half stacks that McCartney takes on the road, there are 2 sets, are '80's re-issue Vox. Look at the large leather handles. He has used those since the 89-90 Flowers in the Dirt tour and all since.

I would think that anyone who had one might still have a hard time proving it was really a Beatle amp. Lots of people didn't even believe Ringo when he said that he had several Beatle guitars.
I have and old Kustom amp a big old white 3x15 that belonged to the Bass Player of the first Allman Brother's band incarnation. But I don't know if anybody would believe me unless I went and got written proof. In way it doesn't matter though as I have no intention of selling it and I dout Ringo will ever sell his mates guitars either.

Since Paul seems to have kept everything from those days I would be willing to bet he still has his amps. If he kept the El Pico (Is that how you spell it?) he probably has the VOX's.

I know that he even has a Ringo Set of drums so I wouldn't dout that he still has his Vox amps as well. I think that he was a Beatle fan himself.

There was no store involved in the distribution via the deals that Epstein cut with Selmer and VOX, beyond a convenience factor that amps may have been teched by local retailers (i.e. Sound City). To my understanding, amps were delivered direct from Jennings to the studio with a rider on concert performances for setup handled by the Beatles road crew - Neil Aspinall, and Mal Evans with the extra stuff shoved off to Alf Bicknell.

In most cases, amps that were teched weren't delivered back. They were simply reconditioned, and sold off as seconds. The Beatles were always delivered the newest equipment, and the latest designs. Keep in mind that VOX amps like AC100s and 7120s were never regular product offerings - They were "concert" amps in limited production. Every person that has an AC100 dreams that it was used by The Beatles, and in the bigger scheme of things, it very well may have been, but there were no purchase orders written or serial numbers cataloged to show the "pedigree" of the equipment. It simply wasn't thought of back then!

In actual fact, the Roadrunner's amp was not ever proved to be a Beatles amp, especially so when you consider the dates involved.

Probably the biggest reason why equipment like the Blond Fender Bassman survived was because The Beatles when out of their way to obtain it, sending Neil and Mal off to buy it personally, and it was originally Paul's - not George's, but George ended up with it when they divided assets.

Speaking of the Beatles' Vox amps, I felt like poor Mal Evans last weekend. I spent an afternoon moving a ton of old Vox gear out of my house and into a moving pod. The gear included (3) Super Beatle-style stacks in trolleys, (3) Vox organs, a Royal Guardsman stack, an AC-30 with chrome stand and (5) Vox guitars and basses. That's a bunch of heavy stuff. It was all part of a deal where I sold off all of the old Vox gear I no longer wanted to a collector.

Ugh-I'll bet you were tired afterward! I had a Super Beatle. They look really cool, but those particle board cabinets weigh a ton, and sometimes the lower half of the trolley would slip out of the upper half when placed on the cabinet's back for transit. I love my AC30s! That's cool that you had such a collection though. Well worth it to hang onto for this long. Speaking of which, I have a Series 90 head and cab, but no trolley in my garage-I bought it cheap for the alnico bulldogs in the cabinet-well worth it at $200! Other than no speakers, it's in great cosmetic shape and just needs one of the resistors replaced.

Which Vox guitars and basses did you have? I have a couple of the hollowbody teardrop 12s-I'm partial to the red one:

Yep, those darned trolleys were pulling apart as I muscled those amps down a ramp across some grass and into the pod. There were (2) Series 90's in the collection. The guitars included a Starstream 6, a Phantom 12, a Phantom Bass, a Violin Bass, and a Tornado. The organs included (2) Jaguars and a Super Continental.

I've recently made the switch to Phantom Guitar Works for my Teardrop needs. I currently have (2) Teardrop 6's, (2) Teardrop 9's, a Teardrop 12, a Teardrop Bass, and a Mandoguitar. These PGW instruments are better than any Vox guitar that I ever owned. I intend to buy a matching pair of Brian Jones 6 and 12-string Teardrops in the near future.

By the way, I'm not exactly short on Vox gear. I have several new Vox amps including an AC30 combo and an AC30 Twin. And I didn't sell my near mint '65 AC30 Super Reverb Twin.
