There seem to be plenty of bassists on the forum. Why don't a couple of you move to England, there's a real shortage of good bass players over here....I know a good blues band looking for one

Hey Jerry, drummers are always the problem, aren't they? We've got some cool possibilities for overseas dates with Hautewerk but the drummer . . . great though he is . . . is always too busy to prepare for these. Frustrating!

Tony, I've now read this thread from the start. I hope your new project brings you success and satisfaction. I know how daunting it is to see the end of one band and the beginnings of another.

As far as your choice of six string is concerned, and being a blues-based guitarist myself, I have reached for a Strat nearly every time I've been playing blues.

However, on the last occasion when I was invited to join the The King Bees for a set, I used my '60 360 FG Capri. It's lead tone was every bit as 'stinging' as a Strat, but with more 'wood' to the tone.

I'm also a strong believer that the players attitude to the instrument makes a difference to the overall sound. For example, if I approached the Capri like it was some precious museum piece jangle twanger, I'm sure it would have affected the sound. Instead, I decided that I was going to attack it with the same gusto I would on a Strat or Tele, and bingo, it smoked like a demon!

I've been using this combination for the demos, plus of course my Marshall stack. I'm really pleased with the results, but I'm also going to try a Ric. I managed to get a fireglo Tele....

It our case, it's nothing to do with ability or even the drummer persona that is the basis of so many great jokes; it's strictly a matter of schedule.
