Hi Nolan,
I think the posts are probably in the Vibrola archives, I'm not sure though as I read all of them and there was a lot to digest, they are very interesting reading by the way. Also they could be in the bass archives, but I would check the vibrola first.

I believe John Hall has said it's a proprietary formula of conversion varnish, no practical way for you to duplicate it. It's applied in multiple thin layers and buffed out very thin. I would just go with another hard, thin high gloss finish and follow the manufacturer's recommendation on how long it needs to cure.
