And while we're at it, I've been told that "All the Things You Are" is a crash course in jazz harmony theory. The song was written by Jerome Kern with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II.

That's not "A Love Supreme", Andy!
Stanley's got style and I respect him a lot. But I wouldn't call what he plays "bass".

Wow,
Some of this stuff is blowing my mind! I listened to Charles Mingus' "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" and I can't believe that fellow is on a upright!
I've been really busy at home with the Mrs so I haven't had a chance to follow up, but tonight I'll be hitting the web to order some CD's.
Thanks everyone, just toss any other's you can think of at me. Just remember, I'm looking for some REAL BASIC stuff.
There are so many unbelievable players out there. I've recently checked out Jaco, Stanley is another amazing player (Alembic by the way) Michael Manring, a fellow named Abraham Laboriel(this fellow plays bass like a Flamenco guitarist)to BLOW my mind. Check out the first 30 seconds of this video...
