i don't think any of the basses in the clip are his. it's an interview for Guitar World... so, i bet they have them just lying around.
a stock jazz, a geddy signature (you can see the Badass bridge), and a red jaguar.

I can certainly understand his interest in Jazz's, but I wonder what he would think of his old Rick if the cap was removed.

I'd be willing to bet that Geddy knows about the old 4001 capacitor removal trick. After all, he was, for many years, one of the leading RIC players. It seems to me he'd have at least heard of people removing the capacitors (although I suspect he may have done it to some of his own basses).

One thing I noticed is how he said he used the Rick on Limelight. I had always thought that was the Fender. I suppose his memory could be foggy on that but I could be wrong too. I think it's high time we figured out just exactly which bass he used on each song from Moving Pictures. Does anyone know about that?

I'm convinced on listening to it that Limelight is the Jazz. Not only that, but prior to that interview, Geddy had only mentioned the Rickenbacker being used on Red Barchetta and (supposedly although I've never seen him say it) The Camera Eye. TCE certainly sounds like a Rickenbacker to my ears.

Of course, the 4001 is not the only bass on Permanent Waves or Signals either.

Does anyone have the Bassplayer magazine with the Geddy interview? Is it any good?

I'm sure that Geddy has done the cap mod. If you listen to Exit Stage Left, his bass sounds really strong and full. Up until that point, his bass always sounded good, but a bit weedy in the mid range on the recorded stuff. Even on Moving Pictures, Red Barchetta and TCE sound a lot fuller.
