Yeah thank you much Peter, this is by far the best site that I have seen, this site is a very important part of my day, it's like CNN to me except the news is good not bad. I have learned tons of info since I started here a few short months ago. Speaking of J.H. where has he been lately?

I assumed JH was here to set straight the wrong information being handed out. It made this forum very special to have The Man actually contribute.
Ah the good ol' days. Sorry, Kenny, you're no JH (Kenny now shown on camera with Dan Quayle-deer in headlights blank stare).

Jerry: It is my hope that those who post in this forum are able to ask any question they wish about Rickenbackers past, present and future. With the exception of John Hall, very few people can know all there is to know about these fine guitars. While we may not always get it "right", and I am a personal example of this, I do feel that we are all each able in our own way to help one another learn about Rickenbackers.

John Hall is a wealth of information and his willingness to contribute has been second to none. I have been pleased that he has been able to put us back on the main road when we have taken more than our fair share of detours. I am also grateful for Kenny Howes' efforts as he is in the right position to know what is going on with RIC. He is also a player of Rickenbackers. Long may his contributions continue.

I continue to learn about Rickenbackers every day. Although I have read alot about them and own several there is still much to know. I am hopeful that those who visit the Forum recognize that there are different points of view expressed and that we may be in error. I would rather have people contribute and learn from their misconceptions than to not have the opportunity to contribute at all.

JH's personal involvement and care for his product swayed me to get a Rick in the first place. I will miss his contributions.

While JH's personal involvement and care didn't sway me into purchasing my first Rick (or second), it certainly didn't hurt and probably contributed to my buying nos 4, 5, and 6!!
I think he has provided excellent leadership to his company and hope he will someday return to this forum. Thanks Peter for giving us the cool forum to discuss these fine instruments!

I was only joking in my usual lousey way about Kenny.

We owe a lot to Peter, thanks again.

Mr. Hall, though there are complaints and bad jokes, I think we all realize the incredible effort it must take to produce a consistantly fine product. Thank you.

I'm gone.

yeah, i first joined the forum to get to the bottom of why my 4003's tailpiece was severly lifted. like 200 posts and 100 wrong answers later, i posted a photo , JH answered the question. Bingo! I know now some eras of bass have tailpieces affected by extreme tension. thanks JH!!

This forum has been absolutely invaluable to me. I've learned more about the technical aspects of my 4003 in the past couple months I've been lurking here than I have in the entire 11 years I've owned my bass.

I've always loved my 4003, but there was always this little nagging feeling I've had, because something just didn't sound "right" with it. It seemed I always had to kind of fight for the tone I always wanted (that twangy Chris Squire-esque sound.) I honestly had no idea that the specs for the 4001/4003 models had changed so dramatically over the decades! I thought I had a sort of "dud" bass because my '92 4003 didn't quite have that twangy sound (and learned to accept it), but then I learned from here that its bassier, louder tone was pretty much by design (and I realize that there are people who love that sound, but it's not my personal preference. It IS a very powerful sound though!)

Thanks to the other enthusiasts here who also sought the tone I was after, I finally got the courage to unwind my pickups and install the .0047 bridge pickup cap, and quite frankly I couldn't possibly be any happier about it. I don't even have to use any EQ, the sound is just "there"... I just plug in, turn it up, and go. I've fallen in love with my bass all over again! I know it's just an "approximation" of a vintage model, but still... Image

Mr. Hall posted just yesterday in Guitars on the thread about 2004's color.

And my comments about the errant Made in USA sticker causing an explosion was just a joke! Honest!

Is there such a thing as the "Website Hall Of Fame"?

If so, I'm voting for this one.

Really. There should be a Website Grammy awarded to Peter, or something like that.

Mr. Hall has also contacted me regarding something I once said on another website. I was really thrilled to have him take the time to write me to discuss the issue. He's a class guy all the way. His participation is certainly optional, but it is also something that few, if any, other CEO's do. No wonder RIC guitars are what they are.
