I hate binding, love dots. I'd buy a new 4003S in a heartbeat.

I currently own two 89 4003S basses and I'll tell you what...The necks on those are incredible!
It must have been the year of the thin neck

I'd buy another one (to go with my '82 4001S bought new in '84). The contoured body is nice.

Scott, about $2400 normally for a c64.

I love neck binding, body binding, fancy checkerboard binding, triangle inlays... and why not headstock binding (looks great on the 4002)? Triple binding (like Les Paul Customs)? Flamed maple tops? Give me Deluxe features! But I wouldn't mind if RIC makes an S model for you...

I've owned 3 4001 models....sold them all because of the binding.....My 4004Cii is comfy but....I would really like to own an S.

Owned many 4001 and 4003 basses through the years and the only one I have left is my 96 4003s. It has to be my favorite player of all time. The neck is very thin and the contour of the body without binding is most comfortable.

Another "S" fan here! Make mine the V63 variety though.
Jeff, That FL looks great!

If they brought back the 4003s model then they couldn't charge the high prices they get for the 4001C64 models ...

I love the 'deluxe' features.
Just to be different, I'd like to see a 4003/5 (with binding, triangle markers, ROS jack), but any 5 string would be great.

Kevin, you can get almost the same thing by getting your choice of color on a 4003 and sending it to Jeff Rath for a 4-2-5 conversion!

That's just what I plan to do, probably with a MID 4003 (when finances allow)!

Of my 3 RIC basses, 2 are "S" models; '91 4001CS and '82 4001S(MMT). My '80 4003(FG) is the oddball.

My '82 "S" is the best of my three... and it just got a toaster & reissue HS. When Sergio's neck pickup arrives, it will be complete!
