Yep, it really looks great and could be all original. I'm thinking the guitar could have been browner when it was newer. If the finish is original then it has gotten better with time IMHO.

Even though it has the appearance of Fireglo, this guitar would have been called 'Brown' at Electro-String...My Fireglo '61 450 had 'brown' written in the cavity, and Fireglo wasn't officially offered until '60.

Without flash photography, it may have a more brown appearance in natural light. Again--the top is just stunning.

Elys, you could always do what I did. About 1974 I bought a '58 Mapleglow Capri for $200 and had the neck removed and a fretless, short-scale bass neck stuck onto it. It looked great, but I was young and don't think my brain had totally formed yet. If I'd only been smart enough to take it home and stick it under the bed instead....

Ouch Todd!!! In just 33 years that $200 could have beaten the pants off even safe compounded interest and multiplied to $10000 or more! A fifty to one increase... but I was like you - who knew? They were just no-so-old used guitars to us then, and lots of them were around for cheap

8.1K and 8 days left in the bidding. This will top out at 15K I think once the collectors find a Japan or German buyer for it. Maybe even higher for such a Beautiful Rick-O-Burst. I talked to the lady(by Email)owner and suggested special shipping or even a round trip airfare for the buyer. She is very nice and legitimate.

Am I the only who spotted a big "ewww" on this guitar? The top looks like it's made of like, 6 pieces of missmatched strips of wood... I wouldn't shell out Squire money for something like that... give me the ol 2 piece top 1 piece back anyday!

That's because the 1st ones of these were made with highly figured pieces of Maple, some were made with figured Birch laminated together then hollowed out from the back with a 2 piece back. Except for very few, all hollow bodied Ricks had 2 piece matched backs, 2 or 3 piece matched bodies/tops. Oh you young ones....Nice Rain Song on You Tube BTW, did you use the DADGAD tuning? I use this for Kashmire

I happen to think the combination of wood on this Capri is fantastic, beautiful, stunning, etc etc.

Thanks for replying and listen Dale, The rain song has the guitar tuned (low to high) DGCGCD . I played White SUmmer on youtube as well with my Casino, that one is in DADGAD

I once owned a '60 FG 365 that had sparkle inlays and a smaller '68ish headstock. Round heel too. I always wondered what the deal was. I eventually sold it (cheap too!). It could've been totally legit. The body might've hung around for 8 years until it was finally put together. Thats Rickenbacker and one of the reasons that I love 'em......

Note the correct single line Kluson tuners.

I suppose that ultimately the invoice would tell...but are any of you thinking that it was finished at a later date, due to the finish??

I need to convince myself of that....it doesn't seem likely to me at this point....

Please, oh please, John and Ben, bring back the F and the Capri models. I promise to buy one of each!
