"want to give it a try in November, Brian?"

I would love to but I don't know if I could do it justice Aitch. I don't believe that I have played any instrumental work since 1964.

Whilst it would be nice to say George Harrison wrote this for Hank, it wouldn't be true, nevertheless from new album again, a great version.

Another masterpiece from Hank.

Correct me if I am wrong, but from what I can recall Fender only gave him an endorsement on a Squier model: surely he deserved better than that.

And as Howard said Roy, keep em coming!!!!

Man is he good. I never Really Listened to him before. His style keeps reminding me of "Sleep Walk" and then it just gets better.

"Very expressive playing" only begins to describe him. He has an ability to create an emotional atmosphere behind the rhythm, tight and focused, but it tells a story from the heart about how he feels about these particular songs. Just poignant. Thanks, Roy, you've created a big Hank Marvin fan.

Good stuff Roy, I've got a couple of old Shadows Lp's must be about time to drag them out for a play. The Rise and Fall of Flingle Bunt, now that's a great one of theirs! Image

Couple more Hank in a Beatle mood. Track one credited to Hank and a different sound to the Fender, second credited to The Shadows, a favourite of mine.

Thanks, Roy. I'm slowly building a Hank/Shadows 'obscure' collection. Image

Pardon me, but frankly; am I the only one to find Hank Marvin/Shadows guitar instrumental music a little eh boring? Clever yes, but most of this stuff I find lacking "something". Not that instrumentals need to be boring. I'll rate Peter Green's Albatross above most of the Shadows material known to me, not to mention Knopfler's Local Hero theme. Don't be mad at me for saying this!
Searchers amongst my teenage favourite music. Still fond of them, but earnestly a little puzzled they are considered THIS big! But I'm very excited about this forum, and will love to read it regularly, and also contribute!

Cant't be mad at you at all, Einar. We all have our own likes and dislikes. I too am a fan of Albatross and Local Hero.... and plenty of others! Image

I partly agree, Einar (sometimes that kind of instrumental music is the only thing i can listen to - depends on the mood), but i 100 % agree about Knopfler! Image

Sure, I can understand how some will find him boring. Heck, maybe most people will.

What grabs me is its honesty, straight from the soul, and his mastery of the instrument. Try playing like that sometime. I say it all the time: complex is easy, but simple is bloody difficult.

Different strokes...was a horrible TV show. Image
