I walked into The POTR with a 68 “P” bass and walked out with a 330BBR/12.

It just played so nice that I had to have it. I have been looking for a nice 12 string for a while now. It gets a bit old and uncomfortable playing half of a 4080/12 or a 362/12.

It seems like it's been the week for purchasing new toys...Biscuti, Pascoe, Aitch have all done some deals. All I've managed to find so far is a roadcase!

I just got another twelve this afternoon. I hunted for weeks for the nicest wood I could find on a 330/12 for a project to send out to Dale for some fancy dress-up stuff and ended up buying this '85. It came with black hardware, which I'm not fond of on MG, so I'm slowly switching over to chrome with backpainted white guards, but what a nice hunk of wood!

Todd, what's going to be done to the new 330/12? A deluxe treatment, perhaps?

Mapleglow and double binding with the big shark-fin fingerboard inlays. Worse case scenario (worst???) checkerboard and crushed pearl (always a nice fall-back option) but I'm thinking of something different for this one if we can get it to work. I've got some sample materials ordered and I'll start playing with them and sending test chunks out to Dale to see what he thinks over the next few weeks. If we do it, some folks will like the look and some probably won't, but it just might turn out pretty cool.

It will also get a toaster neck pickup and a high-gain bridge pickup converted to a toaster cover. I may also add a third pickup. I'm so accustomed to seeing three on my other twelve that this one almost looks like something's missing in the middle. Twelve-saddle bridge, wider nut spacing, a big, carefully-fit aluminum block on the top end of the truss rods instead of a thin steel plate that bites into the wood. I'll probably set this one up for compressed round-wounds. My other twelve has the TI flats and though I love the sound and feel of them, they are pretty dead by comparison. This one has a really resonant body and the rounds on it feel really lively and fun to play.

Anyway, big plans for this one, but step #1 was to find one with really great looking wood and that part's been done. Check back in about six months and ask me if I like it? Chances are, my answer will be the same as George's:
