I got into Grand Funk with the Survival album. I STILL love it!!! I even have two Christian cd's of Mark's...,.

That aluminum guitar was something else!!

I see they are back together touring again. Dale, they will be in Bremerton, WA on 8/22 at the Kitsap County Fair. I don't know how close to you that is but it is out your way. No MF though - http://www.grandfunkrailroad.com/promomap.htm

They got their name from a twist on a Michigan railroad - Grand Trunk Railroad - you'd see the name on boxcars all the time back then. It ran through Flint, where they were from.

Interestingly, when the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra played locally in the parks about 8-10 years ago, they hired Mark to PA the orchestra - he used the old GFR PA - had the name all over it. I found it crazily hilarious.

Flint is only 110 miles away, but the only time I saw GFR live was at Big Surf outdoors in Tempe, AZ 2000 miles away!
