When the buyer found out it was not an original finish and the cost to restore would have been more than the Bass was worth, both seller and buyer backed out of the deal and it was relisted.

Why? What would possess someone to spend that kind of $$ on a project bass. You could get an "almost" new for that price if you look hard enough.
