I've NEVER read/seen any evidence of him using nylon Rotos on the Ric. Hofner yes, but the Ric is the bass in the picture that's being discussed.

I always though that he had had his action high because his intonation often seemed sharp on his high notes, especially with his Hofner.

I believe through all the Beatles years the Hofner was never set up properly and the intonation was way off.
