Kevin, with the aluminum one, did you notice a tone change (brighter) from the stock RIC one?

Manuel;
If I'm not mistaken, Jason IS Hipshot, as in the "boss", and I think it'd be a good idea to talk with him. I cannot imagine him being less than forthright with you, after all I have heard about, and personally experienced the great customer service they offer.
Give him a call.

Jason is not the "boss", Dave Borisoff (sp.) is.

OK - I stand corrected, but Manuel- should call anyway. They will take care of you.

I got a black brass Hipshot for my '87 4003. Great sustain, easy to adjust, and looks great. I liked it so much that I bought a set of black Rick-style tuners to go with it. Take a look...

I did have a question about the tuners after I got them, and called the factory. I ended up talking to the owner for awhile, who was very helpful.
No problems here!

Yes John, it has better highs and sustain.
With the factory tailpiece, this bass was much darker sounding than my other V63. Now it's right where it needs to be.
BTW, before I bought it I talked to Jason about which version to get, brass or aluminum, and he recommended the aluminum to keep the classic "Rick" tone. I couldn't be happier with the tone now. Much improved!

Recently purchased a Hipshot bridge and the difference is astounding. No more whimpy E string. No dead spots and the tone is more gorgeous than it was.
10 out of 10 Hipshot!!!

I have one chrome/brass for sale. Too heavy in my opinion, though the sound is breath taking!!!

Yeah the Hipshot is a bit heavier, but I'd class the Ricky as a really light bass anyway.
I'm quite stocky, but after a few Fender Jazz and P basses, the Rick is a feather! LOL.
