First Purchased Music

I know I bought a few singles before my first album. Certainly one of those singles was "See See Rider" by Eric Burdon and the Animals. Another was "I'll Make You Happy" by the Easybeats.

First album purchased was Stevie Wonder's "Down To Earth", followed by "Mr. Fantasy" by Traffic - not to be confused with "Dear Mr. Fantasy", which was a track on the album. Next was the Beatles' "White Album".

After that it was stuff like Al Kooper/Mike Bloomfield/Steve Stills' "Super Session", some CCR stuff, Blind Faith...... but it's all a bit of a blur timing-wise!

I saw Al Kooper at my local Borders Books a couple years ago giving a talk, very interesting stuff, as I recall.

I think mine was Zeppelin 4, but I don't recall correctly. However, I do recall the first CD I purchased. I bought NIN's Downward Spiral, hated it and traded it for an old Bauhaus 2 record set. Muuuuuch better.
ONE of my first purchases was Zeppelin's The Song Remains The Same soundtrack, on tape, the old Atlantic white tapes with no liner notes. I still have it.

The first album I ever wanted and bought was Chicago VI (Feelin' Stronger Every Day). I was about 12 I guess. I then got the Chicago Transit Authority album. Other first ones I remember around that time were Foghat Live and a Bachman Turner Overdrive album.

I believe my first single was P-Funk's Give Up The Funk. My first album was Zep II, as was my first CD.

I think the first record I ever owned, courtesy of my Mom when I was a wee lad, was an Elvis greatest hits. Complete with very small print..."as performed by The Golden Ring". :/

The first records I bought where two 45s "I want to Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves you" both had nice picture sleeves.The First LP I bought was "The Dave Clark Five:Again".

Mitch, She Loves You was my first Beatles introduction - my Dad and Sister brought the 45 home after a trip to the grocery store. I liked it because it was so different - I was never into the early 60s do wop music. Shortly after, my sister got Meet The Beatles, which I listened to through the upstairs register because I was supposed to be in bed. She took it back and got With The Beatles, which irked me because I liked MTB. I got it myself later on. BTW, the audio quality through the register was worse than AM radio!

First records I bought were 45's:
Come See About Me, The Supremes and I think Sunshine Superman, Donovan, I'm Crying, The Animals, few others that escape me now, 78 cents each.
First album I ever had were The Beatles 2nd album and The Rolling stones 12 x 5, got those for Christmas.
