I think it is just different shades or grain of the pieces of maple in the headstock.

I was wondering that too. But I have not experimented enough, I guess. Joey did it, and it looks like he just put a conventional HTML link in the email to a image file located on a web server (photobucket in his case, it could be your own web server instead, Jeffrey), and instead of just showing the link like Discus Pro did, this bulletin board software causes your browser to display the jpeg file as an image in the post! Kinda cool, and that means the file storage stays off the bulletin board server, and this you are not size limited(up probably to a certain pixel count imposed by the BBS software). That is a big point in favor of this new BBS software

see the Img button? Click that and insert the link to your photo in between the code brackets. If you use photobucket, it creates the IMG code for you.

The headstock wings on my '04 4004cii are fairly light:
Trust me, they have them! Since I don't play the headstock, it really doesn't bother me that much.

But Ron, even though they're hiding beneath a dark green finish, they're plainly there.

Dave, i've gotta disagree, though you presented some V.G. evidence. Even if it were a very light walnut, you'd see at least a small contrast between the wings and the middle of the headstock. Well, you sort of do - in some spots, the wings are actually lighter!

Scott, not sure why this wouldn't have been shot MID or JG. No exceptional grain to be found here.

I would imagine that you know this but just in case.......the stock TRC covers the screw hole from the vintage one if you change it back.

Jeffrey...click on the upload attachments link under the posting window. I think they can be any resolution now but they have to be less than 256kb. Your post will show a smaller pic as an attachment but it can be clicked on and then the full size image appears. I hope this helps.

I've always thought the peghead on my '72 4001LH was both unusual and cool with the darker wood wings, just darker Maple....
