Yeah, I know about the *** on items above $200.00. I thought you had a different ID. My mistake, Dave.

I guess it did not make reserve...I'm thinking he was looking for $3K.

Paul even $3000.00 may be low. I know a large vintage dealer that paid over $5000.00 for one.

Wow. And I turned that one down...the one that just finished looked mint, and had all the bells and whistles.

I read JH, saying that the amp should be kept on top of the speakers at all times, as the speakers pump air through the amp's chassis for cooling, so the harder you play, the more cooling air gets circulated... a brilliant idea!

His strategy is an Ebay newbie's...high reserve, doesn't meet reserve, so he "sends a message" that it's worth more than $3K to weed out the riff-raff...

...but it's the riff-raff that make an auction competitive. A better strategy would be to start it really low, but put a nice reserve on it. This apparently is what he did last time...poor timing (slow season) and perhaps an unrealistic reserve for the time of year.

So, the message is: not right now.

Anyone around WI? I would really like to bid on this amp - but I need someone to keep it for me for a month or two...

Thanks.

Edit: Should I win, of course...

It's in Milwaukee, WI, Gil. There are a few members in that area. It's also only about 90 miles north of Chicago, too.

Anybody want to step up to bat?

OOoops ;)
fixed, thanks.

I don't need anyone to pick it up personally, I can ship it (I just need to know how to pack it).
Again: should I win the bid, of course... :) (and should the boss agree, she is currently out... I need to ask her...)

He will not answer if the speakers are original - pretty important I think.
