Most of the 72's I've seen had more square edges on the surround. Some have had the "scooped" cutout. The surround looks like its from the later 70's. The pickup is definitely not original (probably from the late 70's) and I wouldn't be surprised if the whole assembly was replaced at the same time. As we all know though...sometimes the RIC parts bin was like a box of chocolates: "You never know what you're gonna get!"

Yeah, I meant to write (possibly) in front of the word "bridge pickup surround."
