I had this exact model and year, it had a set neck and a mono output. Jeff Rath got it all tweaked to my liking, then I sold it to a Forum member for $900 3-4 years ago. Is it still kicking around here?

Nice bass, and the "S" models do fetch a premium, but am I the only one still finding over $2K for an 80'S set neck Ric huge $$$?

No, you are not the only one, Andy - I was wondering that myself...

Looks a little high to me too. Especially with that mint '87 4001V63 that sold for $2000.00 a couple weeks ago. But to each his own. Rick isn't making any more of set neck 4001S's in AZ, so if you want one real bad you might want to bid high!

Prices are generally getting pretty high these days. Check out this brand new 4003JG that sold on ebay for $2049.00!

I'm with you Jeff, over 2 grand and no warranty!

As for the S models selling this high - weren't they the "cheap" RIcks?!

Yeah, you're right, Steve, I forgot about them! Funny, isn't it, that the "plain jane" models now command the higher prices.

I paid a bit more for my 4000 than I would have for a 4001. No binding, only one pickup, LOVE IT...!!
