Ohmigosh, I did not have a clue that it was you who was bidding, Paul! I am sorry  I figured at less than $2K, the sparklies and CB purfling made it barely worth it.

I was planning to make this my first refin done entirely myself (with a little coaching from PW of course!), and probably take it to eggplant burgundy (unless I can find an original finish color someplace under that awful silver flake or unless it has unexpectedly-amazing maple figuring that I doubt I will find). I think it is a late-72, so I already have a 72 notched tailpiece here that is period-correct, a spare wiring harness from Sept 72 that should be period correct and the right pickups too. It already has correct wavy Grovers, so except for having the right-era jackplate I can take it back to either original or a good correct BG. :)

I have some spare authentic Rick 70s jackplates, so at least I could get it back to the 1970s, but not 72. Of course, it would become a nice player, since it can never have the original value it once had before that awful Harley-tank paintjob..... :(

I think that sparkle finish looks cool! I'd like to have a WB or 381 with a finish like that. I wouldn't leave the neck bare maple like the bass is though. I'd have it sparkle finished as well.

Oh, no problem, Elys. As you know, I already have a '72 (Mink). I don't expect anyone to lay back if I'm bidding, and I don't either.

I was thinking about making it Azureglo depending on the figuring of the maple. Kinda like the AZ redo that Darren Trott had done on that awful black and red bass last year.

I have your guitar's 24 fret cousin. I ordered this AZ/AG Blue new back in the day. I learned to play guitar on it:
