If I recall correctly (and who would know but me?), it was probably "In My Room" by the Beach Boys. Waltzin' with whole notes. Learned on a cheap acoustic guitar borrowed from an uncle. Then I moved onto some Beatle tunes. This would have been early 1964. Later on, I learned much of the Beatles' White Album on a bass borrowed from a cousin (late '68). Bought my first bass, a Japanese Beatle bass copy in early 1969, and played in front of an audience for the first time in April/May 69, Pizza Palace, Westwood Village in LA, backing a fellow named James Lee Reeves. He seems to have disappeared, but his lead guitarist went on to fame (and maybe fortune) as editor of Guitar Player magazine and author of several guitar books; Tom Wheeler.

Having come late to the guitar/bass world (learned piano much earlier) - my brother taught me Runaround by Blues Traveler - then Zombie by the Cranberries...lol

Deep Purple, "Hush," somewhere around 1988. Remarkable how difficult it seemed at the time.

Boy,

That is a LONG time ago....I discovered YES about the same time I started playing electric bass. I was always working out bits and pieces of YES songs, but my first COMPLETE song was Train Kept A Rollin by Aerosmith....on my old Ripper bass. I gave up playing about a year after I started. One of the biggest regrets I have. I picked it up agian about 23 years later.

The first song I ever played on a bass guitar was 'Sunshine Of Your Love" by Cream, summer of '74.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)
