Keeping a band together can be a real pain...I know from experience. As music is most of my living, I have adopted a rather hard attitude to band members, by giving them the absolute third degree before they join me. At least that way, they know what to expect & if they're not put off, then that's a good sign. I'm really lucky at the moment with Kit & Vicki, as they both realise that being in a tight, professional band is a great reason to hold your head up high & as a result, work like troopers to make it so. At the end of the day, you should all be in the band for the same reason & it doesn't matter if that reason is to just get out & have a good time playing occasionaly, or world domination, everyone should pull together to achieve that objective. If there is one person in your band with lesser or greater expectations, then the band is doomed. When it becomes part of your living however, band members must understand that any turned down gig effects the financial income of the rest....so it's best to look for members who rely on gigging as part of their income!

That's great, Bruce, congratulations. That's just what I'm hoping for some day.

BTW, we had a band meeting two weeks ago and my leaving is now "official."

I didn't really quit my band either....
Our guitarist seemed to be getting worse week after week, and was really screwing up in gigs. I found out that he was playing with another band. All his energies were going with them.
On one practice night, I said the next gig would be the last...
My brother, who is the drummer said OK too.
Me and my brother played a blinding gig, and the guitarist.... well he played s**t!!!
So in the end, the decision WAS the right one.
Most guitarists seem to be ten-a-penny anyway. It's the few good ones that can really make a band sparkle. The problem is finding 'em.
