There was? Personally I thought that red-to-black looked weird, but people seemed to like it and that 360 (MB with black trim? I can't recall)...

It was a Mahogany Burst 370, purchased by Forumite Craig Witty.

Negitive feedback? The guitars sold for a nice price. I would think that would be the most important feedback.
I loved both of these guitars....I would have bid if I did not buy two other Rickenbackers in '07.
I hope Rickenbacker does not let a few people who did not like those guitars dictate their decision to release more one offs.
That being said...I've been known to complain a little myself.....

I wish RIC would put the following guitar together and put
it up for auction. It's still hanging up at, RIC, in pretty much the same condition you see it here, or at least it was a month or so back:
On second thought, I wish they'd wait awhile; funds are tight for me right now.

Actually, I don't think you'd want that guitar. I remember hearing that it was used for a test color because it had a bad neck.

Neither instrument that was auctioned were accidents. They were planned. In fact the 360 was given to me by Ben, and he told me "Do something cool with this one". Sooooo, that's what I did. I had that color combo in my head for a while, so I was eager to see how it would look on a guitar. Stayed late after the shift, and laid it down in about an hour. That's the fun part of my job, when my creative, artistic side gets to manifest itself.
We tried it with all the different hardware and pickguards etc. and determined that it looked best with the black stuff. Obviously others have a different opinion, which is understandable, as black is not for everyone.
Same deal with the 4003, which IMHO did not photograph well at all. It looked way better in person.
There are others, but there have been no decisions made yet as to what we're going to do with them.
Hope that clears things up a bit.
Nobody would love for RIC to have a custom shop more than me, but we've got that backlog to keep chipping away at, which is far higher on the importance scale. Maybe someday

Thanks for the info, Eric!
IMO the overwhelming majority of us look forward to seeing more of these special finishes available on eBay.

Bummer. Bad as in warped, or bad as in it's going to break off the body?

Not to offend Craig, but where all all the people that were upset about people buying 75th Anniversary guitars on spec. and trying to sell for a huge profit? Somepeople were pretty nasty about it. I say good for Craig if he can buy a guitar and then turn a profit. God Bless capitalism.
Uh oh! Here we go!

AH-HA!
That was you spraying those sumptious bursts huh Eric?
I'm sorry, but there is no other word that describes this kind of burst....but EROTIC.
My 4003FL is blended so sweetly as well, the picutres just don't do it justice.
SCHWING is another word that comes to mind.....but I'll leave it there.

Eric, unfortunately it only takes one or two to ruin it for everyone else. Keep up the great work!
