I got a used one a few years back for like $30 from a friend, but rarely used it. I ended up throwing it on ebay and it sold for something insane like $150. They must be hard to come by. It was fun to mess around with and after watching that video, I want one again.

Also, I believe you can get more sounds out of them with a side by side Gibson type humbucker (the Rick hbs are stacked and don't seem to react in a special way).

I'm actually quite fond of my older Ebow with the red logo; I've glued it back together twice, and repair soldered the switch once(I used to be much harder on my gear). what I like about the older Ebow is that there is only one setting so that I have to work the device deftly in order to produce the harmonic, whereas the harmonic setting is available at the flip of a switch with the newer Ebow Plus, though in the regular setting the harmonic can be produced the old fashioned way.

I think you're right; humbuckers react a bit differently. I've been ale to work it quite nicely with all of my guitars though, whether it's a rickenbacker(preferred), Strat(also quite fun, especially with all of the switching options), and my De Armond-equipped wretsches, with which I initially had a bit more trouble getting the Ebow to do what I wanted to.
