No one got me anything musical, this year!

But I did get myself a few things including the new Boss Fender Deluxe Reverb pedal -it's being sent back promptly. Ugh.
I'll get some use out of the string and picks however.

I have had some fun with the Yamaha keyboard I bought for the kids. And my son's bongos. He's giving them hell!
My daughter also got a trumpet care kit (the little girl rocks) and a method book for her guitar.
Wish I had her talent.

I got a chrome stand for my AC30, and a pretty cool set of Beatles Cartoon figurines for my music room!

I was given a copy of the Shane Simpson book "Music Business" (it's the Australian bible for budding band managers like me )

Robyn also gave me the green light to secure a '66 Fender Precision bass in Candy Apple Red. A very Christmas-y coloured guitar for sure!

It certainly holds the more interesting (for me) instruments.

I forgot to add I got a gift card to Best Buy so I will be adding some music cds.

The Eagles' new 2-CD set. I've had time to hear only a couple of tracks, but it sounds great so far!

My son gave me one of those "swingers" guitar hangers. I consider getting my '84 4003 a week before hand a Christmas present.

I got a DVD called "The Search for Robert Johnson" narrated by John Hammond Jr., and a book called "Urban Spacemen and Wayfaring Strangers: Overlooked Innovators and Eccentric Visionaries of '60s Rock."

I just got through viewing the DVD and it is interesting. I realized how little I knew about Robert Johnson after watching it. There are still, or were when the program was filmed, people alive who knew Johnson first hand who knew him. One man who Hammond interviewd says he's a son of Robert Johnson. I don't know...could be.

There's also some performance footage of Hammond, Honeyboy Edwards, and Johnny Shines playing several of Johnson's blues.

I also got Grateful Dead Gear by Blair Jackson. There is a bit in there on a guy I know who made amps for them (GAS Ampzilla and PIE amps).

The book is great for those into the history of sound systems as the dead were involved with a whole lot of poeple who made PA systems what they are today, such as John Meyer. I was always fascinated by the WALL OF SOUND, something I first read about in dB magazine back in the '70s.

My sister-in-law gave me a copy of the Clapton autobiography and being an old EC fan, I finished in 2 days; really good read.

I also received a CD box set called People Take Warning! - Murder Ballads & Disaster Songs, 1913-1938 from Santa. I'm an avid Old Time music freak and just had to have this set when I saw an article written about it in the Washington Post in the early part of December. Very hip! Three CDs, each divided into themes ( Man vs. Machine, Man vs. Nature and Man vs. Man ), with a total of 70 tracks plus an introduction by Tom Waits. Some of the tracks include the original versions of "When The Levee Breaks" by Kansas Joe & Memphis Minnie (1929) and "Wreck of the Old 97" by the Skillet Lickers with Gid Tanner and Riley Puckett from 1927. One of my all-time favorites - Charlie Patton's "High Water Everywhere" (1927) - is also here, both Part 1 and Part 2. Great archive of music!!

Steve, your 4003 MG is just gorgeous! You must have a been a good boy ALL year for Santa to have brought you that one!

BIll, those figurines are brilliant hey? I have a set in my office at home, they brighten up the room......along with my ricks! (As you can see by my avatar.)
My boys gave me the "Help" DVD, which i had been waiting patiently for since its release!
Then a local TV station played it on NYE! So i've watched it twice in a few days!
