Les Claypools white 4001 was a gift from Alex Lifeson. It's not Geddy's

I forgot about the white 4001 ... I think that one may belong to Alex.

Awesome still. MFH is better than some Rush stuff to me. That album is just awesome.
And to correct Jeff, according to the Wal site he has 4 Wals. And I can prove it. The black one used on HYF, a Mach (or Mark I think) I, and another that was a 5 string. 5'ers come in Mach II or III models. He only used a 5 for Lock and Key. On the Presto tour (see youtube for proof) he had another black Mach I but with a natural headstock. And on RTB he had a red Mach II.
Hmmm I thought it was 3 ... 2-4 string models and a 5 ... Oh well I thought I would miss a few ...

What was his reasoning for not signing instruments?
E-BAY.
Would it make the bass have more added value than the CD or photo he signed? If a Getty autograph sells for $25, I'd figure the bass would be worth no more than $30 more than if it did not have an autograph.

No ink on mine either.
As far as autographs go, I met Geddy when he was doing a promo tour of his solo album "My Favorite Headache".
He stopped by Rolling Stone records in Harwood Heights, Il when it was released. He signed a copy of his disc for you and one other thing if you wanted. I'm not sure if anyone had any guitars but anything he would sign was personalized.
He signed a photo that I took of him from the Grace Under Pressure tour "To Tom, Gedy Lee". He would not sign JUST his name. He asked everyone what their name was before he signed it.
That was fine with me, because that way it was for ME. And I'm sure that he did that for the E-Bay reason.

The only place I would ever consider under extreme duress would be the back of the headstock for an autograph on a Ric.

On the Rush in Rio DVD there is an easter egg of the promo video to 1975's Anthem. It's a stock white rick.

OMG! Check out the shoes! I'll bet Geddy gets a kick out of watching this video today.
I don't even think Greg Brady would have worn those in his "Johnny Bravo" days!

He bought his first one in '74 after they signed their first record deal. It had wavy Grovers and of course 1/2" spacing. Otherwise it was plain-jane so it was probably a '74 or a late '73. The second one was '77 or later as it had 1" space and non-parallel knobs. Both received Badass tailpieces. In the end, Geddy did not like the lack of low end. Too bad he did not know about the .00047mfd cap.
