These storms have been playing havoc with my schedule... power went out on Friday at 5:30 AM and is still not back on. They're saying Wednesday "at the latest". I have watched as Sausalito has gradually come back on-grid, then most of Mill Valley: about 95%. Unfortunayely in this case, we live in an old cottage in an old part of town, up on a hill, and all the wires up here are on poles. Last I heard, there were 300 poles down. P, G, and E has brought in workers from all over the state, and they're working as weather permits. We've lost a whole refrigerator and freezer of food; can't use an emergency generator, as it violates noise ordinances in our community.
Lanterns, any portable lighting, and all C and D cell batteries are sold out in this area. We're living by candle light and eating in restaurants. Probably 99% of this general area is back up, but for us, nada.

Paul: I hope this matter is resolved sooner that the estimate. The news footage of the storms in the Western US is frightening. I will be thinking of you as will all of those who visit here, I am sure.

My two years in San Francisco were the mildest conditions I ever lived in...hard to believe it's experiencing violent weather.
Crossing that bridge must have raised the heartrate just a little. Stay safe!
January is usually a pretty stormy month in the Bay Area. The local ski resort here shut down when winds were hitting between 80-85 mph. How fun would it be sitting on a lift at 80-85mph. Much calmer today. A lotof new snow and skiing was great today.

Hank - 1988 - time flies when your having fun!
Mark, not to worry, the world IS out to get you. Actually, with all that wind and rain, be glad you are still UP on the hill.
Paul, I feel for you. I cannot tolerate well my home environment being in that kind of turmoil. I think I would fire up the generator and then hand them the bill for all the spoiled and lost food if they show up to enforce that ordinance.

Hah, John! You don't know the MV police...half of them have law degrees...
Power came back on while we were out today. Time to clean out the fridge and go shopping...then there's three days of laundry...

We pulled them out of three feet of rainwater, and they're drying off now...
