A few of them are a bit slack, Manuel. So is one on my 360v64...... REAL bad slack - like half a turn!!

Re: Do you like the 350v63 ?
Yes, that's the problem I had on the 325. I opened the tuner up and found that the screw holding the post had come loose so I tightened it and placed a little drop of superglue on it to hold the screw. You can imagine with the 325, it got so bad it was almost unpalyable - everytime I used the tremolo, out of tune.ozover50 wrote:A few of them are a bit slack, Manuel. So is one on my 360v64...... I replaced all the tuners on it with a Gotoh "Magnum Lock" tuner. These tuners are locking tuners but are a direct replacement to the vintage tuners - no extra holes to be drilled, etc. Just pop the old ones out and put the new ones in. Great stable tuners, plus being "lock" tuners, the 325 stays solidly in tune no matter how much I use the tremolo.
Here's a pic I found on the net. Great little idea, looks like a normal vintage tuner, but locks the string.

No, those are like the Strat vintage tuners (I have a couple with those on).ozover50 wrote:I'm thinking these might be they.........

The ones you want are the 3L+3R and this is their model number SD90MG-05MA/N. The "N" stands for NICKEL buttons, make sure you tell them that otherwise they may come with the white plastic buttons (which also look cool on other vintage type guitars, by the way.)

Greg, I'd love to see some pictures of that one. I don't think I've seen one in BBR.soundmasterg wrote:I've got a 350v63 BBR.

I'll see if I can post some over the weekend then. Its a cool guitar. Actually I plan to post all of my RICs once I get my 230 completely done. I refinished that in Blue Boy and it looks WAY better than it did before in cracking black acrylic lacquer over the original RIC factory red that a previous owner did. I just need to finish some fretwork but haven't had the time. I'll bet it's the only BB 230 in existance at least until someone else decides to refinish one in that color.Greg, I'd love to see some pictures of that one. I don't think I've seen one in BBR.

If it's what you want, go for it!
Even though I enjoy Rics, my main instrument is a Fender Strat '62 RI. If I'm going to buy a Ric, I'll only get a 12. Don't ask me why I don't want a 6, but Ric 12s are so unique and I'll aways buy a Ric 12 and nothing else.

Ok, I was going to upload some pics of my 350v63 BBR but I couldn't figure out how to do it on this new forum. I see the insert image thing, but from what I can see that requires you to have the picture posted somewhere else so you can link the image. Is there a way to just upload a picture? Anyone??

Greg: Just click on Post Reply and then use the Upload Attachment link below the posting window.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: Do you like the 350v63 ?
Very nice, Greg! The back of the neck is interesting..... almost no colour at all.
I checked out the tuners on my three v63s and they are fine...... all are 2004 or 2005 build. My 360v64 is the one with sloppy tuners, so I apologise for posting incorrect information. It was built in 1998 so I guess it's possible that either the vintage tuners back then were a bit ****** or they've simply become ill through use.
Anyway, I've ordered a set of the Gotoh locking Magnums for the v64.

Hey Greg thats a beautiful Guitar
I've never seen the 350 in that color - It looks fantastic and all the vintage appointments look real fine.
I just tried one when I bought my 07' 360 JG. I really liked it but the 360 just felt right to me. Probably the bigger body with rolled edge- who knows.
I'm used to small frets from vintage Teles and had no problem jumping to a Rick for lead work. Although, I have have not had the pleasure of owning a 350 - my 330 and better yet my 07' 360/6 JG is a great lead and rythym guitar. I love the way that neck feels. I owned and played many guitars over the years: Gibsons, Epi's, Gretsches, loads of Fenders, mainly Teles and I have to say the Rick neck - especially the 07' 360 neck is the ticket. But to each his own - for me the Rick 6 is a great lead guitar and I hope your 350 gets you through what ever you play on it. It certainly looks great!
As far as vintage tuners go...I've only had vintage type tuners on my Teles, Gretsches and Gibsons, over the years and seem to have never experienced the bad tuner issue you guys describe on your guitars on mine - lucky for me. But I have replaced numerous ones on friends guitars over the years. Having said that - I love vintage tuners and converted my Schallers on my 07' 360 to vintage tuners I purchased from The Rickenbacker Page - they work great, they are tight, and I love the look. They have DELUX on the case and are stamped Japan on the underside that mounts on the headstock.
The Gotoh "Magnum Lock" tuner sounds like a great idea.
Enjoy that phenominal guitar Greg
