....let me know if you stumble across any Wal 5 strings as well. :P

Nice one Joey...

The HS should sound great in that bass. I'd take the shoes off, so you can really dig in to the sweet spot, and get the best out of that p/up which is one of RIC's best IMO...

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! :D

Harry, thanks for clearing that up for me. I thought it was the other way around, with the 4008 having the fundamental strings to the bass side of the string pairs and the S/8 having them on the treble side of the string pairs. Since I play mainly fingerstyle, it's cool with me that the octave string is on to the treble side.

I'm not sure which bass I'm going to install the HS pickup in. I'm sure it would sound great in this S/8, but I was thinking maybe my 4001S? :?

How do you actually remove the shoes? I know how to remove the pickup cover from my 4001 '78, but removing the shoes seems something different..

Philip, you'd have to remove the shoes and pickup from the mounting plate if you don't want the shoes on, then re-mount the pickup.

Actually, it might be tuned to C#-F#-B-E. At Kenny Howes gig last night, Erik and I were discussing having to use to use a custom gauge set, maybe from the D'Addario bass string station.
