I find this music compelling, yet understated. Film music from a well known Greek composer, Eleni Karaindrou:

A couple immediately came to mind....

"Exodus" is probably my favorite theme, although "Cavatina" from "The Deer Hunter" is a close 2nd.

"Out Of Africa" is my favorite soundtrack.
