Re: Questions for Blackstar owners:
That is possible. I am not coaching this coming season so I may be there.
Re: Questions for Blackstar owners:
Let me know since I am building a database to keep track of who is coming and how many instruments they will bring.
Re: Questions for Blackstar owners:
So what is the correct handrest/pickup cover for a Blackstar? I have one just like the attached picture- one of those plastic ones. Is that period correct?

I was wondering if others out there who own or have owned Blackstars can clear up a few questions. I know the metal surround on the neck pickup is chrome, but what about the cover/handrest over the bridge pickup? The others I've photographed for the book had this cover removed, so not much help there. Did these come chrome from the factory or should they be black? Or did the factory vary on this? Also, I've seen both standard (metal-top with dot) and vintage (all black with white line) knobs on Blackstars. What was standard? Or did these vary also? The knobs seem to vary on the Rednecks and Tuxedos, too. Anybody know?
Thanks!
Paul congrats on the getting Mike's Blackstar. I purchased his Shadow and came close to buying the Blackstar also. But my significant other put his foot down on that one. He said two Shadows AND two Blackstars under the same roof was going just way to far (he has a Shadow and a Blackstar among a few others). When I picked up my Shadow I got a peek in the case and you got one beautiful Blackstar!!!

Thanks, Katherine. Another neat thing about the Blackstar; the case is black tolex with black fur lining!

Okay, that's just mean.

It took a long time to find all 3. Getting the Redneck was quite a thrill (thank you Marc Seligman). I guess I still need a GF model to have ALL of the microdot basses but I am happy with the ones I have.

Just messin'.
I'll trade you my GF for your '63, Ted!

You should have bought the one Chris Pappas used to have. I played it in Baltimore last year, nice bass, although the neck was quite chunky.rickfan60 wrote:I guess I still need a GF model to have ALL of the microdot basses but I am happy with the ones I have.

I like the neck on mine. Its a little bigger than a 4001 neck, but not as big as the current Rick necks. Its a little wider across the fretboard than my 80's 4003's but not as wide as a 4004. And with the adjustable string spacing on the bridge, I can get the spacing the same as a 4000/4001/4002/4003/4005.jps wrote:You should have bought the one Chris Pappas used to have. Not the most visually exciting Rick bass design, but its comfy, it sounds great, and it plays well. I prefer it over my 4004 Cheyenne in both tone and neck feel. It is a little heavier though.

We have to get together Jeff. It has been too long. Our collectons have grown a bit since the last time. I'll send an email.
