If I ever had to check in the bass and become a six-er.... I thinl Jeff Beck would be what I would shoot for.

I saw Jeff Beck in concert about a year and a half ago. He's an awesome guitar player!! His whole band was excellent, especially his drummer. Tal wasn't playing with him yet.

I got Tal's CD. It is awesome. She has done a great deal of work in the fusion style. I believe she toured with Chick Corea for a year. When I saw the crossroads dvd, I too dropped my head and said I will never be as good as Tal. My wonderful husband reminded me that I was not Tal and that what I do I do very well. Sometimes less is more. She stills rocks.

Whilst in no way wishing to question Tal's obvious talent, given that there are many, many equally talented players out there, I can't help but wonder if much of the reason why she's become the phenom du jour is because she's young, female & soooo darned cute. Which she most definitely is. Is there a "drool" smiley?

Her bein cute and doesn't hurt but I think her playin stands on its own very well. Good chops and a very nice style....

Jacque - you have to be as good as Tal, you just have to be as good as Jacque can be. Have fun and soar to your potential.....

Sorry John, I think I was just overwhelmed.

Being serious for a second though, I guess it really shouldn't have anything to do with it, young, female or cute. But as in many things, being a successful muso (in the industry sense) isn't always just about talent; there are always loads of talented players out there and many of them will never get the big breaks. Having something that makes you stand out from the crowd in one way or another always helps. Which Tal certainly does, although her playing obviously stands up on its own.

I wonder if anyone has and film of Beck from the Jeff Beck Group era, he had the same, indiscribable and unique, quality way back then. His technique and the complexity of his music has evolved but it's still Beck! He is my NUMBER ONE.I can hardly beleive some young, almost talentless, dude could come along and steal his name. It's like desiding to call yourself Clapton or Jager. WHY

Tal also has a youtube where she is playing funk with just a drummer. Omg Can she be funky!!!! She has mastered so many skills at an early age, she can only get better.

Beck is extremely talented and I'm pretty sure he didn't name himself.

Yes, I have seen that jam - great drummer, nifty little solo....

But seriously just have fun with it all ... Tal has already cornered the market on Tal.
