It has wavy Grover tuners and is a MG.
Hmmm....I have a Sep '74 Azureglo with no red dots, reverse Klusons and metal ferrules.

The tuners seem to have been a lottery....

Yep, metal ferrules here too...

Interesting! Same month, different tuners!

:D I also have a 1974 4001FG with red dots and Grover wavy tuners, serial no. NE XXXX (May '74) which is currently with Paul W. for pre-'73 conversion (keeping the red dots, hopefully) and 21-fretting  .

Probably in January (?) I might have some pics to show?

I briefly had a July '74 MG 4001 with red dots and open back tuners. I believe the ferrules were metal. Stupid thing to nit pick about, but I hated the plastic ones! :?

So far I have seen only 4001 models, the earliest being Dec 1973 (Ben Brown on "4001 model of the week" in the bass forum) and the latest being July 1974 4001 (Gearhed289 above). There have been a couple of posts stating September 1974 4001's as NOT having RED DOTS. Keep them coming, and I will probably have to post in "RIC general" to catch another group. Any rumors of other models having RED DOTS ?

Weren't there a FEW GREEN dot 4001's as well?

I vaguely remember something to that effect, but I've never seen one!
