I have studied this in depth, using early takes as well as the finished version of "The Chord". Here's what I came up with.
Using the same notation as above, here goes:
1st string 3 G (third fret)
2nd string 1 C (1st fret)
3rd string 0 G (open)
4th string 3 F (third fret)
5th string 0 A (open)
6th string x x (muted)
The addition of the Bass D octave note (12th fret) is understood as being as included.
